Football Playoffs: Wheaton North Gets No. 5 Seed, Faces St. Charles East in First Round

Wheaton North did not play the No. 13 seed in the regular season.

The Wheaton North Falcons will host the St. Charles East Fighting Saints (6-3) Friday for their first Class 7A playoff match.

According to the IHSA football playoff brackets released over the weekend, Wheaton North is the No. 5 seed. St. Charles East is the No. 12 seed.

The winner of the game will move on to play the winner of the game between Glenbrook North (No. 4) and Prospect High School (No. 13) in the second round.

The (4-5, 4-3) 23-13 Friday, ending a ten-year streak of playoff appearances for the Tigers, and of Tiger victories in the annual cross-town matchup.

The Falcons had a nearly perfect season, losing one game to Glenbard North Oct. 12. North quarterback Johnny Peltz said the Falcons used their loss as motivation to have a perfect week of practices before the North-South matchup Oct. 19.

The Falcons play 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at Wheaton North High School.
