Getting To Know Your Chicago Bears

Family Reunion:

Patrick Mannelly’s (LS) wife is Tamara John, who is the daughter of Tommy John, who the famous elbow surgery is named after.

Chris Conte’s (S) grandfather, Richard Conte, was in “The Godfather” & “Ocean’s 11”. Richard is clearly Chicago’s favorite Conte.

 Schoolhouse Shock:

Kyle Long (OL) flunked out of Florida State University. Couldn’t have been harder than AP Spanish.

Julius Pepper’s (DE) transcripts were discovered at UNC in 2012. Peppers had D’s & F’s in 11 classes and 1.08 GPA. When asked if there was a case of academic fraud or misunderstanding, he said no.

Cause I’m In The Magazines, On The TV:

Martellus Bennett (TE) was fined over $20,000 for an inappropriate rap song he posted on Youtube in 2009. He may be the second best rapper ever out of Houston behind Slim Thug.

Lance Briggs (LB) told a Chicago radio station while on the Bears in 2007 that “I'll do everything that's within my power to not be with this organization.” Very interesting comment, but can attribute to post-concussion symptoms after he totaled his Lamborghini, left, and reported it stolen.

Roberto Garza (OL) was on the cover of Madden 09 En Espanol. The Madden Curse is finally broke!

Things You Didn’t Know:

Marc Trestman (HC) was the back-up quarterback for Tony Dungy at the University of Minnesota. If only Dungy could have passed on more wisdom to Trestman in Minneapolis, like “Don’t kick 47 yarders on 2nd down.”

Alshon Jeffrey (WR) went 80-0 in his high school basketball career and won four state titles.

Shea McClellin (DE) grew up in rural Idaho raising animals on a farm. Shea is the second best football player ever to come from the area behind Uncle Rico.

Brandon Marshall (WR), in 2008, was wrestling his family, slipped on a McDonalds bag, and fell through the TV. He had major lacerations in veins, nerves, tendons, and muscles.

Terrence Toliver (WR) has been tasered by police more times than he has NFL receptions (1 to 0). Toliver was tasered by LSU police after fighting students outside a campus bar.
