Aural Rehab hits the web for patient's with NuEar hearing aids

Hearing aid technology today happens at a quick pace but some manufacturer's have really added even more value to the purchase by providing patient's their own personal website.

Health care providers of all stripes attend a variety of conferences and meetings to keep with mandatory continuing education credits, network with colleagues and learn new skills.  Not all conferences are created equally and I’ve been to many meetings that didn’t net one decent idea.

So, when NuEar Inc invited me to attend a conference to learn about their new technology, I was somewhat hesitant.  It didn’t take long before I was blown away by some of the new technology they are using to help patients hear better and have a better experience with their hearing aid.

Topping the list is the patient portal called www.MYNUEAR.COM that has several different aural rehab programs that the patient can use.   What's neat is that patients will have their own website with their specific hearing aid info on the screen, how-to videos on their hearing aid and tracking information on all the aural rehab games each patient is working on.  The aural rehab games are a real game changer and should help every hearing impaired patient not only learn to hear better but also help their cognition.

Another exciting development is the new mobile surf link.  This link connects and streams audio to patient's hearing aids via bluetooth and uses the patient's microphones so that they don't have to hold the device or their phone etc to hear.  They can use it for meetings, lectures, at home on their TV sets, smart phones and at restaurants and they can hook up to seven different devices.

Other companies are improving technology quickly to meet the demands of a more sophisticated patient demographic while trying to help those with hearing impairments enjoy their life and relationships with friends and family, better.
