WWS Classics Choir to Host 4th Annual Choral Classic

The Wheaton South Choral Classics will host the Choral Classic Invitational this weekend.

The Wheaton Warrenville South Choral Classics will host their fourth annual Choral Classic Invitational Mar. 11 and 12.

More than 30 show choirs and concert choirs from six states—over 1,500 students—will compete with highlight performances by the host groups.

The Classics are an extracurricular group of 50 singer-dancers and 12 instrumentalists. They have been competitively successful in the past several years, being consistently recognized for vocal, choreographic, and instrumental achievement. They are currently ranked No. 3 in the country.

This year, they competed at the Waukee (IA) Star Struck Invitational, Mt. Zion (IL) Midwest Invitational, Manteno (IL) Main Event and in Arlington Heights at the Chicagoland Showcase(IL.) The Classics also traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to compete at the South Central Classic at Homewood High School February 17-20.  Their competition for the contest included Clinton Attaché from Clinton, Mississippi, long recognized as the top show choir program in the country.  The Classics were awarded Best Choreography, tied Attaché for Best Overall Effect and took First Runner-Up honors.  During the visit, the group also toured the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and sang at the 16th Street Baptist Church.

On Apr. 2, The Classics will perform at FAME Chicago for an opportunity to qualify for the Show Choir National Championships on Apr. 30 in Indianapolis.
