Judith Allen: I came this close to going to Columbia so I could fully pursue art. But I had to consider how North Park offered me an honors scholarship and the blessing of my tuition benefit from my father teaching at Wheaton College.

Allen: Getting the phone call from Columbia saying I got in, followed by their unique acceptance package a couple days later.

Patch: What’s your favorite memory from all of high school?

Allen: Superfanning every Friday during football season as a senior.

Patch: What is the best thing about being a senior?

Allen: A mixture of the lack of doing work/being in class along with teachers acknowledging how seniors are and respecting it.

Patch: What will you miss about high school?

Allen: The simple comfort of being around the same people and friends for years.

Patch: What won’t you miss about high school?

Allen: Little rules, tardies, waking up before 7 everyday, the list goes on…

Patch: What are your summer plans?

Allen: Grad parties upon grad parties, NYC in July, getting ready for school, and just enjoying my time with all the people I love.

Patch: What is your favorite activity/club/sport that you participate in?

Allen: Photography. The world is just so terribly inspiring, interesting, and intriguing to let my camera stay at home.

Patch: What is your advice for the next senior class?

Allen: Reconcile with your peers & just get along with everyone so you can enjoy every moment because it truly does fly by.

Patch: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Allen: Not quite back to the suburbs, in the city trying to establish myself as a photographer.

Patch: What will you miss most about Wheaton?

Allen: Downtown Wheaton in general, “dtw”, after middle school you hate it but you love it. But the Popcorn Shop of course!

Patch: “When I visit home, the first thing I’ll do is...”

Allen: Devour all the home cooking my mother is famous for making.

Patch: What song will always remind you of your senior year?

Allen: “Home” by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes

Patch: Favorite Wheaton hang-out?

Allen: Pick a Starbucks, any Starbucks…

Patch: Favorite lunch item?

Allen: A bagel sandwich! Literally have one everyday.

Patch: Favorite class you’ve taken so far?

Allen: My biology class sophomore year had some of my absolute favorite people in it, that class will always be one of the most memorable. Academic-wise: creative writing because it challenged another artistic side.

Patch: How do you plan on keeping in touch with your high school friends?

Allen: Facebook, Skype, Texting, but of course real phone calls too.

Patch: What is your goal for the end of the year? What do you hope to accomplish before graduation?

Allen: Have one last stellar art show at the end of the year. Last year I won first place overall color photography as a junior, so any title would be awesome to win.
