Wheaton Patch: Why did you choose Boston College?

Collin Fedor: I walked onto campus, and immediately had “that” feeling. I noticed a strong sense of community and felt myself in the kind of place I can thrive both academically and socially. I also have the opportunity to compete for their D1 Cross Country and Track programs, which will help me pursue my other passion: running.

Patch: What’s your favorite memory from all of high school?

Fedor: Winning 3rd place in the 4x800m relay at the State Track Meet last year and performing chemistry raps in front of my AP Chem class.

Patch: What is the best thing about being a senior?

Fedor: Teachers finally understand us and treat us like adults; we are more responsible for our own actions.

Patch: What will you miss about high school?

Fedor: My outstanding teachers, and of course all of my friends I’ve made along the way.

Patch: What won’t you miss about high school?

Fedor: Class starting at 7:20am.

Patch: What are your summer plans?

Fedor: I’m looking for a job, so if you’re interested, hire me! Consider this a resume.

Patch: What is your favorite activity/club/sport that you participate in?

Fedor: Track and field. I’m a distance runner, so I spend most of my time on long runs with some of the best friends I could ask for. It’s a place for me to challenge myself in ways I never thought possible, and reap the rewards of hard work. I also have some of the greatest coaches (Coach Ken Helberg and Coach Chris Kuntz) training me. Since freshman year they have motivated me to put forth my best effort in everything I do, on and off the track.

Patch: What is your advice for the next senior class?

Fedor: Don’t let up now, keep up your hard work no matter how much you want to slack off. You have all of summer to enjoy being lazy.

Patch: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Fedor: Happy, successful, and running.

Patch: What will you miss most about Wheaton?

Fedor: My family, friends, and Wheaton Warrenville South.

Patch: “When I visit home, the first thing I’ll do is...”

Fedor: Bear hug my black lab Cobi and raid the refrigerator.

Patch: What song will always remind you of your senior year?

Fedor: “Month of May” by Arcade Fire.

Patch: Favorite Wheaton hang-out?

Fedor: The beach volleyball courts in Wheaton’s Downtown Central Park.

Patch: Favorite lunch item?

Fedor: Qdoba steak queso burrito with black beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream.

Patch: Favorite class you’ve taken so far?

Fedor: AP Chemistry with Mr. Phil Culcasi. He made the class incredibly fun and interesting. I learned very well from his style of teaching. He prepared me for my future by forcing me to adopt good study habits and to attempt subjects that challenge me.

Patch: How do you plan on keeping in touch with your high school friends?

Fedor: Facebook and a few letters every now and then.

Patch: What is your goal for the end of the year? What do you hope to accomplish before graduation?

Fedor: My goal for the end of the year is to finish strong, and score double 5’s on both AP Economics tests. Also, I hope to qualify for the IHSA State Track Meet in the 4x800m Relay and the 1600m Run.
