Longfellow Students Jump Rope for Heart, Raise $8,625

Students at Longfellow Elementary School raise money for the American Heart Association.

For a healthy heart: eat healthy foods, exercise and never smoke.

That was the lesson of the day in Barb Williams’ gym classes at last Friday, which was "National Wear Red Day." Students participated in Jump Rope for Heart to raise more than $8,600 for the American Heart Association, Williams said.

Bill Repke, vice president of Jump Rope for Heart, quizzed students about heart health and told the students that with their generosity and participation in Jump Rope for Heart, "you're helping people that you may never even meet... that's really cool."
