Wheaton Warrenville South to Host Choral Competition

Wheaton Warrenville South High School will hold the fifth annual Choral Classic Show Choir Competition Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10. Hosted by the WWS show choirs Esprit and The Classics; this promises to be one of the best show choir competitions in the country this year, bringing together some of the finest groups from 6 different states!
 
The middle school division will be competing on Friday evening. Edison Middle School's Electric Youth will kick off the evening with an exhibition performance at 5:05 pm, followed by competition performances by eight middle school show choirs. Hubble Middle School Expressions will be featured at 6:20 pm. The WWS Classics will cap off the evening with an exhibition at 8:50, followed by the awards ceremony at 9:15.
 
Saturday's high school competition will begin at 8:05 am with performances by 7 unisex show choirs, and continue with 14 mixed groups, beginning at 11:30 am. The daytime session will feature a performance by WWS Esprit at 5:30, immediately followed by the preliminary awards ceremony at 5:55.
 
The Finals Competition on Saturday night will feature the six high school groups awarded the highest scores from the judges for their preliminary performances earlier in the day. All six groups will perform starting at 7:30 pm. The Classics will finish the evening with an exhibition performance at 10:30 pm, and the final awards will be given at 11:00 pm.
 
In addition to the show choir performances, a separate solo competition will feature some of the most talented singers from the various groups. They will be performing throughout the day, with winners announced at the evening awards ceremony.
 
Admission is $10 for each of the three sessions (Friday evening, Saturday daytime, and Saturday evening finals) or an all weekend pass may be purchased for $15. Admission to the solo competition is included with the Saturday daytime session. Admission for seniors and students is $8 per session, or $12 for the weekend.
