Being Presbyterian in an Evangelical World  with Dr. Paul Kirbas

America seems to be a culture in which the biggest and loudest voice of the Christian faith comes from the evangelical traditions.  Presbyterians and other so called "mainline churches" seem very much on the sidelines.  Although we are still thought of as mainline, we are no longer in the main!  What does it mean to be a Presbyterian in such an environment?  How are we different, and what difference does that make?  Join Dr. Kirbas as we explore these questions, utilizing the entertaining little book by Ted Foote and Alex Thornburg, Being Presbyterian in the Bible Belt.

Faithful Parenting  with Michelle Cain from the DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center

This is a six-week workshop that will focus on topics such as:  healthy communication with our family and spouses, honoring a child's temperament, birth order, and how to problem solve those "rough spots" we encounter along the way.  We will also spend time discussing how to successfully "unplug" as a family in order to find time for faith and spirituality.

A Week Ahead with Peter Richey

The scriptures that will be emphasized in the following week's worship service will be previewed. Their biblical and historical context will be examined. You'll be encouraged to reflect on the upcoming sermon scriptures so when you hear them a week later in worship, God's Word will have dwelled in you and have lasting impact.

Screwtape Letters  with Michael Spires

Join us as we take in the "Battle for our Souls" from the point of view of the Enemy.  CS Lewis provides a glimpse of how we are tempted and deceived in our approach to living as Christ would have us through a series of letters from the Old Devil Screwtape to his nephew and protege Wormwood, as he tries to inhibit the Christian growth of a young man in World War II Great Britain.  The letters address the issues of prayer, bravery, pride, relationships, and many other ways in which our faith is expressed in the every day lives of Christians.

Worship services are at 8:30 am and 10:45 am on Sundays. The 8:30 service is traditional in style and the 10:45 am service is contemporary.   Child care is provided for children four years old and younger during the services and the education hour.
