Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Seminar

On Monday, October 17, 2011, DuPage CountyState’s Attorney Robert Berlin’s office, will co-host a seminar entitled “FASD – A Collaborative Call to Action: 2011.” The seminar will focus on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). FASD is an umbrella term that covers the range of effects that can occur in an individual whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. FASD is the nation’s leading preventable cause of mental retardation.

The seminar will feature remarks from State’s Attorney Berlin, Ajeet Charate, NOFAS Illinois/Trinity Services, Inc., FASD Program Director, Dr. Todd Ochs, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and Mr. Dan Dubovsky, FASD specialist at the SAMHSA FASD Center for excellence. Breakout groups will feature Justice Joseph E. Birkett, Second District Appellate Court, Dr. Bakahia Madison and Diane Mariani of theHaymarket Center, Ajeet Charate and Dan Dubovsky.
