Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley Speaks at Wheaton College

Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley will offer a lecture on the campus of Wheaton College Thursday, March 3 at 4 p.m. The lecture is presented by the J. Dennis Hastert Center for Economics, Government and Public Policy at Wheaton College.

A former state senator and county prosecutor, Daley was elected mayor on April 4, 1989, to complete the term of the late Harold Washington. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007. He has earned a reputation for improving Chicago’s quality of life and public schools, strengthening its economy, and helping Chicago become among the most environmentally friendly cities in the world.

“It will be a pleasure for Wheaton College to host Mayor Richard M. Daley as a guest speaker at the Hastert Center,” says Dean of Natural and Social Sciences Dr. Dorothy Chappell. “Mayor Daley is a distinguished guest and a valued contributor to public discussion on the themes the Hastert Center addresses. He will offer remarkable forward-looking analyses to advance the conversations, theory, and applications where economics, government and public policy intersect.”
