Bob Woodward Speaks in Lisle

Bob Woodward grew up in Wheaton, a town that has produced such well-known figures as comedian John Belushi, horror film director Wes Craven, and radio and television announcer Norbert “Ringmaster Ned” Locke.

As a teenager, Woodward worked as a part-time janitor in his father’s law firm. His father, Alfred E. Woodward II, who later became the Chief Judge of the 18thJudicial Circuit Court in DuPage County, hoped that his son would follow in his footsteps.

After serving a stint in the U.S. Navy,Bob Woodward enrolled in Harvard Law School with the intent of acquiescing to his father’s wishes. However, he found himself drawn to journalism. Today, the former police beat reporter who helped crack the Watergate scandal is regarded as one of America’s preeminent investigative reporters and non-fiction authors.
