District 200 to Discuss Boundaries, WWS Athletic Complex and Professional Development

The Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at to address the following agenda items:

Consent agenda

Approval to post teaching materials for new high school science classes: .

Approval of transportation contract extension

Approval to add serious safety hazard bus route:

The District evaluated potential hazards and found an area along St. Charles Road, between Pleasant Hill Road and Taylor Drive that qualifies as a serious safety hazard, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation's guidelines. Students in this area will ride an existing bus route, according to the District 200 website.

Approval to open previously closed minutes

Approval of bills and payroll

Approval of minutes, Jan. 11, open and closed, Jan. 25 and approval to destroy recordings of closed sessions prior to September 2010

Approval of professional development/collaboration time:

The board will vote on a plan to create professional development time for district staff. Elementary school staff are finding time for development, but will pursue “new consistent solutions” during contract negotiations, according to the District 200 website. Middle school staff have the time for development and collaboration, “if teaching schedules are made to maximize planning time between teachers of same courses.” To make time for high school teachers, the board would need to approve the plan in which students would start school at 8:30 a.m. 12 days during the 2012-13 school year. Buses will run at regular times, but students will have the choice of arriving at school at 7:15 or before their first class at 8:38 a.m.
