District 200 Hires Two Assistant Superintendents

District 200 voted Wednesday to hire Faith Dahlquist and Joanne Panopoulos for two assistant superintendent positions opening after the end of this school year.

District 200 voted to hire two new assistant superintendents Wednesday. Faith Dahlquist will begin her duties as assistant superintendent of educational services and Joanne Panopoulos begins her duties as assistant superintendent of special services Jul. 1. 

District 200 wrote in a press release that Dahlquist and Panopoulos come "highly recommended" from their current positions as assistant superintendent and director of student services, respectively. 

Dahlquist, who will replace retiring Assistant Superintendent Dr. Margo Sorrick, "comes highly recommended" from her current position as the assistant superintendent for K-12 educational services at Valley View School District in Romeoville, IL, according to a press release from District 200.

Dahlquist has been with Valley View School District for 16 years and has served as the assistant superintendent for K-12 Educational Services; as the assistant superintendent for K-5 curriculum and instruction; the principal of Independence Elementary School; and the associate principal of Independence Elementary School. She was hired at a salary of $145,000.

She received a Bachelor’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master’s degree in Organization and Leadership both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Panopoulos, who will replace retiring Assistant Superintendent Linda Knicker, also comes highly recommended from her current position as the director of student services at West Northfield School District in Northbrook, IL, where she has been for three years. She served as the director of special education for five years at the Niles Township District for Special Education; as a teacher for eight years at Wood Oaks Junior High; and even taught at Hubble Middle School for one year during the mid '90s. She was hired at a salary of $140,000.

Joanne Panopoulos received a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Illinois State University; a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University; and will soon complete a Doctorate of Education from National Louis University in Educational Leadership.

District 200 Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris said, "We are fortunate to welcome these experienced and highly talented educators to join our Community Unit District 200 team. Both leaders are experienced as teachers and as district-level administrators which will bring valuable assets to our district.”
