District 200 Hires New Principal for Edison Middle School

Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200 officials hire Rachel Bednar as the new principal of Edison Middle School

The Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education appointed Rachel Bednar as new principal of at its meeting Wednesday night.
 
Bednar will join District 200 after working in the Oswego school district as an assistant principal at Karl Plank Junior High School since 2008.

From 2004 – 2008, she was the director of the Learning Resource Center at Oswego High School and the director of the Learning and Resource Center at Bednarcik Junior High School from 2002-2004. Prior to that, she taught language arts and reading in Oswego and Chicago, according to a press release from District 200.

Bednar earned her bachelor’s degree from Chapman University in Orange, CA, and masters’ degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational administration from Concordia University and Governors State University, respectively.

District 200 Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris said Bednar comes to the disrict with skills as an "instructional leader, who will continue the traditions of excellence at Edison and will find ways expand the positive learning experiences for those students.”

Bednar started her new position with District 200 Thursday morning.
