D200 High Schools Rank in Washington Post Ratings

Wheaton Warrenville South and Wheaton North high schools rank 43rd and 44th, respectively, in a list of top high schools in Illinois.

In the 2011 “High School Challenge” published by the Washington Post, both Community Unit School District 200 high schools, Wheaton Warrenville South and Wheaton North, ranked among the top high schools in the State of Illinois. The list ranked public high schools across the nation, including 86 in Illinois.

This year, Wheaton Warrenville South ranked at No. 43 and Wheaton North ranked at No. 44 in the state list. Nationwide, WWS was No. 1234 and WNHS was No. 1245 out of 1904 schools. While Wheaton Warrenville South made its debut appearance on the list, Wheaton North has been ranked among the tops schools since the inception of the “High School Challenge” in 2007.

Wheaton North’s index score rose from 1.122 in 2008 to 1.537 in 2011. To determine the rankings, The Washington Post determines a ratio or index score by dividing the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or other college-level tests a school gave in 2010 by the number of graduating seniors. Wheaton Warrenville South's index score was 1.549.
