D200 Eliminates Two Administrator Positions, Increases Administrator Salaries for 2011-12

District 200 will have 52 administrative positions for the 2011-12 school year, down from 54.

Community Unit School District 200 is cutting two administrator positions for the 2011-2012 school year due to staff retirements, release and reorganization, according to a District 200 press release Thursday.

The district is in the process of finalizing its budget for the 2011-12 school year and will make the change from 54 administrators to 52.

All administrators will receive a one percent salary increase for the upcoming school year, which is the same case for all certified teachers. Teachers and administrators experienced a salary freeze during the current school year in order to achieve a balanced budget, according to the release. The one percent salary increase for the upcoming school year is still below the CPI (or cost of living) of 1.5 percent. Even with the increase, District 200 will still eliminate $225,000 in administrative salary expenditures from the 2011-12 Budget as a result of a decrease in administrator positions.

Further, the Board of Education approved the extension of Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris’ contract through the 2013-14 School Year. In his first year as Superintendent, Dr. Harris has met all of his goals which includes reviewing administrative staffing and increasing administrative efficiency; presenting the Board a plan for continuing the District’s progress toward achieving and then maintaining a balanced budget into the future; and to maintain and increase high-level student achievement. Dr. Harris will not receive a salary increase. It will remain the same as the 2010-11 school year.
