Wheaton Home Sales Surge from September 2012

Darien, Burr Ridge and Downers Grove led DuPage County in the increase in the number of homes sold year over year.


The 60 single, detached homes sold in wheaton during September 2013 marked a 27.7 percent increase over September 2012, when just 47 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.


Median home prices in Wheaton increased along with the number of homes sold. The median price rose 12.9 percent to $350,000 from $310,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase — 185.7 percent — in sales over the same period last year. Burr Ridge, at 120 percent, and Downers Grove, at 100 percent, also saw big jumps. Burr Ridge  also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 69 percent.


Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
