Wheaton 121 Developer Talks About How City Influenced Building's Design

David Strosberg, the President of Morningside USA, dishes on some of the ways in which the new apartment building's design fits the character of Wheaton.

In a piece written for Multi Housing News Online, the president of Morningside USA, developers of new Wheaton apartment complex Wheaton 121, discusses how the company looked at the fabric of the Wheaton community for influence in designing the six-story building.

“We worked very closely with city officials to design a building that would reflect the values of this unique city,” company president David Strosberg writes. “The result is a design that compliments its historic neighbors, puts focus on important architectural landmarks in the area, and also projects the vibrancy and forward-thinking attitude of Wheaton’s residents."

In the piece, entitled “Curb Appeal,” Strosberg spotlights how the building’s “bookend” turreted towers tie the downtown to Wheaton College via a sightline, how the design combines traditional materials with modern architectural touches and how the design is intended to be extremely pedestrian-friendly.

“The result of these elements is a very dynamic exterior that offers visual interest to both Wheaton’s overall appearance as well as the streetscape,” Strosberg concludes. “Wheaton 121 is a building created with curb appeal at the forefront of the plan and is a distinguished addition to downtown Wheaton thanks to this creative and thoughtful design."
