Pre-Leasing Begins for Downtown Apartments at Wheaton 121

Wheaton 121 offering pre-leasing for downtown apartment complex opening this summer.

Developer Morningside Group is now offering pre-leasing beginning March 15 for apartments in Wheaton 121, a six-story apartment complex opening at 121 N. Cross St. in downtown Wheaton this summer.

“There has been a great deal of interest in Wheaton 121 since we broke ground last summer,” David Strosberg, president of Morningside said in a statement. “The modern design of the homes, high-end finishes, and upscale amenities will make this the finest rental community in DuPage County. Both long-time Wheaton residents and potential renters are excited about this vibrant addition to downtown Wheaton.”

Available floor plans include loft, studio, one bedroom/one bath, two bedroom/one bath, two bedroom/two bath, and three bedroom/two bath plans. They range from 558 to 1,509 square feet and each unit includes private outdoor space, according to a news release from Morningside Group.

Designed by Fitzgerald Associates Architects, the building will have high-end amenities in each apartment. All apartments will have 9-foot ceilings, granite countertops in kitchens and baths, stainless steel appliances, kitchen islands, wood floors, ceramic tile in the baths, high-end plumbing and light fixtures, individually controlled gas forced-air furnaces and central air-conditioning, and in-unit washers and dryers, according to the release.

Morningside presented their plans for Wheaton 121 to the city in fall of 2012 and broke ground in early July. The developer will use tax increment financing (TIF) funds for public improvements around the property.

“These apartments have several unique floor plan features, including private entrances for the ground-level homes, angled walls that lend a modern appeal, a rotunda of windows that flood the apartment with light from three directions, and walk-in closets with windows, depending on the plan,” Strosberg said. “The open layouts and thoughtful design make these spaces well-suited for a variety of lifestyles and tastes.”

Residents of Wheaton 121 will have access to community amenities that include a second-level courtyard with a heated pool, BBQ stations, lounge areas, a fire pit, a dog run and a bocce court. The building will also have a community room with a catering kitchen, separate business center and conference room; a theatre room; and a large health club-quality fitness center and yoga area.

“There is truly nothing like this community in Wheaton or anywhere in DuPage County,” Strosberg said. “We are raising the bar on what it means to be a luxury rental community in the western suburbs.”

Residents will also be a part of Morningside Group’s V.I.P. program, which provides exclusive deals and discounts to businesses throughout downtown Wheaton.

First move-ins are expected in September. Rental rates will start at $1,265 a month.
