Won and Done: Meet the 2013 Uncontested Wheaton City Council Candidates

Meet the uncontested Wheaton City Council candidates in the 2013 municipal election.

While City Council seats in all four of Wheaton's districts and one at-large seat were up for election this year, there is only one contested race.

Four candidates are running for one City Council seat in the city's North District, including incumbent Phil Suess, Alberta Adamson, JT del Alcazar and Ted Rodgers.

But the Council will still see a few changes in its lineup after the April 9 election. While there's no need to compare these candidates to an opponent, they have all said they welcome questions, comments and concerns from you, the residents—the people they serve.

Here's who we know we'll see in May 2013:

At-Large: Prendiville to Return to City Council

John Prendiville is a former at-large City Councilman who left the Council to challenge Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk in the 2011 mayoral race. Frank Garcia was the one person who filed to run against Prendiville in December, but was removed from the ballot because he was not a registered voter in Wheaton when he filed.

Prendville attended the League of Women Candidate forum in March (Video available here). See Prendiville's answers to the Patch candidate questionnaire here.

East: Mouhelis Retiring, Saline to Fill Seat

Thor Saline, who was appointed to fill former At-Large Councilman Jeanne Ives' seat when she resigned in November, will fill the East District seat when Tom Mouhelis retires from his 12 years of service on the Council.

South: Rutledge Uncontested

Councilman John Rutledge, who was appointed to the City Council when Howard Levine left in 2011, announced his candidacy last summer. Rutledge has participated in both candidate forums this year and responded to our Patch candidate questionnaire. Read his answers here.

West: Scalzo Uncontested

Councilman Todd Scalzo also announced his candidacy for City Council last summer and has participated in both candidate forums. Read his answers to the Patch candidate questionnaire here.
