City to Receive Salt through DuPage County Agreement

The Council authorized a bid award to Morton Salt through DuPage County for the City’s purchase of road salt. Collaborating with DuPage County is expected to provide the City with a more dependable supply and possible savings, as DuPage County has been able to purchase bulk salt for less than the state in recent years. In addition, DuPage County did not experience a salt shortage during the past extreme winter, and unlike many municipalities, they did not have to purchase additional salt on the open market for significantly higher prices.
