Wheaton City Council Discusses Medical Marijuana Dispensing Operations

The city council gave preliminary approval of limiting the operations to the city's manufacturing district.

The Wheaton city council is expected to approve zoning changes that would allow medical marijuana dispensing operations to be located only in the city's manufacturing district, according to the Daily Herald.

A preliminary approval of the changes was given be council members during a Monday meeting and a vote is expected before a state law takes affect in January, which will allow certain patients to be prescribed marijuana, according to the article.

The industrial zones of the city are located immediately south and west of Wheaton's downtown, according to the Daily Herald.

Great - that will make it more convenient for the clients of DuPage PADS.

Ms. Martinez. Before pot is dispensed, the recipient will need to produce a prescription, plus probably more than a few other procedural obstacles. I don't think it will become a pot party like you probably believe. BTW, did you know that there has never been a fatality linked to the consumption of marijuana? You can't overdose on it? There are bigger fish to fry in the war on drugs. BTW, PADS does good work. Many of their clients are their by circumstances, not substance abuse. Just be thankful your family hasn't had to endure long term unemployment or domestic abuse or mental illness- the reason many people have to avail themselves of PADS resources.

Welcome to Wheaton, where the charity and compassion for others ends at the doors of our churches (once we're out of sight of our neighbors). You stay classy, Kathryn.
