Five File for Council Seat in Wheaton's North District

Eight people filed petitions for Wheaton's 2013 municipal election, including three people in the city's north district.

As of 12 p.m. Monday, three people had filed petitions for candidacy in Wheaton's 2013 municipal election in the city's north district, including incumbent Phil Suess, of 121 W. Forest Ave., Ted Rodgers, of 408 W. Cole Ave., Robert Molenhouse, of 1920 Glencoe St., J.T. Del Alcazar, of 213 E. Lincoln Ave. and Alberta Adamson, of 419 N. Wheaton Ave.

The deadline to file petitions for candidacy was 5 p.m. Monday.

Incumbent John Rutledge was the only person to file in the city's south district last Wednesday. Thor Saline was the only person to file in the city's east district and incumbent Todd Scalzo was the only person to file in the city's west district.

Molenhouse ran in 2010 for an at-large seat on the council, losing to Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Pacino-Sanguinetti.

A fifth seat on the Council, the at-large position, will be filled in the 2013 election as Jeanne Ives moves to serve in the 42nd Illinois Representative District. The filing period for the at-large seat is Dec. 17 until Dec. 24.

Objections to nomination petitions may be filed Nov. 27 until Dec. 3. Candidates have until Dec. 3 to withdraw their petitions.

The primary election for the north district will be February 26, 2013. The consolidated election will be held April 9, 2013.
