Rutledge Nominated to Vacant Council Seat
City announces special meeting for Monday to consider appointment.
A longtime Wheaton resident has been nominated to fill the vacant seat on the City Council, the city announced Tuesday.
John K. Rutledge, who is a 40-year city resident, lives on Cambridge Lane in the South District. The council will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday night to vote on the appointment.
Rutledge worked in the banking industry and is president of Rutledge Company. If approved, Rutledge would replace Howard Levine, who resigned from the council with about two years left in his term.
