WBEZ reported Monday that Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed an education overhaul into law Monday. The law will lengthen school days for Chicago students and make it harder for teachers to go on strike. It will also eliminate a teacher seniority policy used in deciding who to lay off and make it easier to fire inadequate teachers, according to the report.

The bill passed almost unanimously, with 'yes' votes from both District 95 Representatives. Mike Fortner and Sandra Pihos.
