Naperville Chamber Endorses Jeanne Ives for State Representative

Naperville Area Chamber endorses Jeanne Ives for state representatives in the 42nd District.

The Naperville Area Chamber Political Action Committee (NACPAC) has endorsed Jeanne Ives for election to the Illinois State House along with eight other candidates for local office for the March 20, 2012 primary.

“To earn the endorsement of the Naperville Area Chamber Political Action Committee a candidate must demonstrate that they understand how government can help or hinder job creation and economic growth,” said Joe Dunn, Chairman of NACPAC and who previously represented Naperville in the Illinois House. “The candidates we endorsed for the upcoming election are talented individuals, who are committed to public service and will be effective stewards for businesses, residents and taxpayers.”

In addition to requesting a written statement from candidates, NACPAC’s board of directors personally interviewed 23 of the candidates running for office over the past several weeks. NACPAC is one of only a handful of local organizations that offer endorsements in every election cycle.

NACPAC does not offer endorsements lightly and candidates must meet a high threshold to earn the formal support of the business community. This thorough endorsement process has resulted in NACPAC supported candidates being victorious 78% of the time in contested elections.
In endorsing Ives, NACPAC offered the following statement:

“Jeanne Ives is a new entrant into elected office, but has already proven to be a force for positive change on the Wheaton City Council and would be an excellent voice for our businesses and residents in Springfield. Ives is a committed public servant, veteran and reformer and won’t be afraid to shake things up in General Assembly. Ives will use her superb judgment and qualifications to find solutions to the challenges facing our state, including further reform of our public sector pension systems. We know that if given the opportunity, Jeanne Ives will contribute to solving the problems facing our state and we are proud to endorse her candidacy.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Naperville Area Chamber PAC,” said Ives. “Expanding economic opportunity is my top priority in going to Springfield. We only need to listen to Illinois’ business community to know that the 2011 tax increase was a job killer and destructive to the growth of business. The state's decade of budget mismanagement has created uncertainty that is adding to the problem. I look forward to working with business groups, such as the Naperville Area Chamber PAC, to restore economic prosperity in Illinois.”

A mother of five, Jeanne Ives currently serves as a well-respected and active member of the Wheaton City Council and as a Milton Township Precinct Committeewoman. Ives graduated from the United States Military Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
