Harsh Winter Could Push Back Prep on Area Athletic Fields, Delay Spring Sports

Glen Ellyn and Wheaton park district officials said harsh conditions from this past winter could push back the start of the spring athletic season as they wait for the soil to thaw and dry out before prepping area fields, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In Glen Ellyn, Dan Hopkins, the park district's superintendent of parks and planning, said there would likely be at least a week delay in opening its fields and the district will "open each field as it becomes ready," according to the article.
