Native Plant Sale

Find plants that require less maintenance, are drought-resistant and best suited for this area by attending the annual Native Illinois Plant Sale. The City of Wheaton, Environmental Improvement Commission and Wheaton Park District will host this event from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 28 at the Wheaton Public Works Building, 821 W. Liberty Drive.

The sale features Native northern Illinois trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers to promote environmentally friendly local landscapes. By providing habitats for native wildlife, requiring less water and no pesticides, native plants are preferable for the local environment. A list of the plants that will be available at the sale includes information about the plants, including what type of sunlight plants prefer, how tall they will grow, which plants attract certain wildlife, flower colors, blooming period and much more.

For even more information about choosing plants for your yard, check out the City’s video “Grow Native at the Wheaton Native Plant Sale.”
