Developer Proposes New Senior Living Facility for Wheaton

Wheaton's zoning board begins public hearing process for proposed assisted living facility in north Wheaton.

Wheaton's zoning board on Tuesday night continued a public hearing for the consideration of the development of a senior living facility at 219 Parkway Drive in Wheaton, TribLocal reported Wednesday.

Chicago-based developer Supportive Living Services, LLC submitted an application for permitting for a planned unit development, to allow the developer to begin construction of the proposed four-story building that would house approximately 80 units.

The target population for private assisted living facility would be seniors around 85, according to a memo from city staff. City staff recommended approval of the plans for the development.

According to TribLocal, a resident had concerns the four-story bilding would tower over its neighboring structures, which are mostly two-story homes.

The planning board will revisit the proposal at its March 27 meeting.
