City Seeks Buyer to Renovate Main Street Building

Submitted by the city of Wheaton.

The City of Wheaton seeks proposals from buyers interested in purchasing the City-owned mixed-use building located at 111-113 N. Main St. in downtown Wheaton. Zoned as part of the City’s downtown retail core district, the City seeks a buyer who would immediately renovate the building into desirable ground-floor retail and an upper-floor office or residential unit.

The property is approximately 3,200 square feet in size, comprised of approximately 1,300 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment on the second floor. The City is selling the property “as-is,” and it is available for immediate sale.

As part of the selection process, the City asks prospective buyers to visit the property during one of two opportunities:

  • 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15
  • 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 21

Prospective buyers must submit proposals to the City’s Planning and Economic Development Department, 303 W. Wesley St., no later than 5 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014. Upon City staff’s review of all proposals, the City Council will review the proposals in closed session. The Council will select the best proposal based on the selection criteria identified in the Request for Proposals packet.

For more information, including a survey of the property, please see the Request for Proposals packet. Questions should be directed to Director of Planning & Economic Development Jim Kozik at 630-260-2008 or jkozik@wheaton.il.us.
