City Schedules Info Session on Downtown Strategic Plan

Briefing to be held June 26 at City Hall.

The city and the firm selected to assist in two downtown improvement plans are hosting an informational session on June 26 to detail the process and community participation in it.

Scheduled for 10 a.m. at City Hall, the session is intended for residents and community stakeholders to learn more about the overall goals of the Downtown Strategic Plan and Downtown Streetscape Plan.

City officials said an important component in the downtown strategic process is community outreach to seek input on the overall vision for improving downtown and improving issues, such as development, traffic, aesthetics, land use and more.

Design Workshop, a planning and urban design consultant, was chosen by the city to assist in the development of these plans to meet strategic goals set by the city.

If you can't attend the meeting, it will be recorded and aired on Channel 10. It will also be posted on the city's website at www.wheaton.il.us/downtownplan.

The planners need to keep in mind the tax burden that the residents already have. It is difficult for taxpayers to pay the property taxes that we are burdened with.

Looking forward to see the input of the whole community in help making downtown Wheaton an even more vibrant place to shop & do business.
