City Issues Video Link to Warn of Bullying in Schools

The city issued an email to warn residents about bullying in schools with a video link.

Bullying is much more than just being picked on – in some cases, it’s committing a crime. As cell phones, social networks and technologies evolve, so do the nature and severity of bullying. Learn more about how law enforcement defines and addresses bullying problems in Wheaton’s schools by watching this video with Officer Ed Hasan, School Liaison Officer at Wheaton Warrenville South High School.

In this video, Officer Hasan outlines different types of bullying and the tools the Police Department uses to address the problem.

“With text messaging and all the different online social networks kids are using, bullying has become much more sophisticated than ever before,” Officer Hasan said. “I hope that watching this video will open up a dialogue between students and parents and let them know about the resources that are available.”

The Wheaton Police Department encourages parents and students to check out the video to learn what is considered bullying, how it affects its victims, and what students and parents can do to address it.
