City Council Candidate Withdraws, Primary Canceled

Bob Molenhouse withdraws name from District 4 City Council race, eliminating the need for a primary.

Wheaton City Council candidate Bob Molenhouse last month withdrew his name from the running, eliminating the need for a consolidated primary in District 4.

The four remaining candidates include incumbent Phil Suess, Ted Rodgers, JT Del Alcazar and Alberta Adamson.

Incumbent John Rutledge was the only person to file in the city's south district last Wednesday.Thor Saline was the only person to file in the city's east district and incumbent Todd Scalzowas the only person to file in the city's west district.

Molenhouse ran in 2010 for an at-large seat on the council, losing to Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Pacino-Sanguinetti.

He told the Daily Herald he dropped out of the race to spare DuPage County the time and cost of having a primary.

A fifth seat on the Council, the at-large position, will be filled in the 2013 election as Jeanne Ives moves to serve in the 42nd Illinois Representative District.
