City Council Approves Contract for Sewer Reconstruction

The City Council approved a contract allowing City staff to provide work orders for sewer line projects in its meeting Monday. Other approved items included an amendment to planned unit development at Wyndemere Retirement Community and increased liquor

The City Council adopted a resolution that authorized the execution of an annual contract for trenchless reconstruction of city sewers in its meeting Monday, Sept. 20. The contract allows City staff to provide work orders to Insituform Technologies, USA for various sewer rehabilitation projects, which utilize sewer reconstruction during the fiscal year without needing separate contracts. These work orders would likely go through Director of Engineering, Paul Redman, according to Councilman Phil Suess.

Redman said that approximately $1.1 million has been budgeted for the work, which will provide for approximately 5 miles of sewer lining. The distance covered will depend on the diameter of the pipes, Suess said.

The City will provide a list of priorities for sewer lining work and the contractor will work until the budgeted amount is met. Work orders would go through Redman, Suess said, who will identify areas that are priority and authorize the work.
