Wheaton Approves Sale of Main Street Property as Aveda Salon

City Council approves sale of 109 Main Street in downtown Wheaton, where the purchasers plan to open an Aveda salon.

A City-owned property will soon became an internationally known salon and retail storefront selling exclusive Aveda brand products.

At its Feb. 21, 2012 meeting, the Wheaton City Council approved a sales contract for 109 N. Main Street. The City previously acquired this property through eminent domain proceedings.

Roy and Karen Millonzi of Glen Ellyn purchased the property with the intent of renovating the downtown building as the new home of an Aveda Lifestyle Salon. Aveda is an international health and beauty brand owned by the Estee Lauder Corporation selling hair care, styling, skin care, body care, perfume, makeup and unique gifts. There are only 18 existing Aveda Lifestyle locations in the state of Illinois.

“The City is pleased to see this internationally respected brand choose downtown Wheaton for its newest location,” said James Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development. “It also puts this property back on the tax rolls, which is good for the City and the entire community.”

In addition to the 109 N. Main St. property, the City also acquired the 111-113 N. Main St. property through eminent domain proceedings. The 111-113 N. Main St. property is still available for purchase. Interested buyers can find out more about the property by visiting the Available Commercial/Retail Properties section of the City’s website.
