Woman, 22, Faces Charges for Crashing into Wheaton Home

Police arrest Downers Grove woman for crash that damaged a Wheaton home.

A Downers Grove woman faces charges for driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash after she crashed her SUV into a tree and then a house Tuesday, Jan. 10, according to a press release from the Wheaton Police Department.

Allison Smolinski, 22, was arrested Thursday and is being held at DuPage County Jail with a $500,000 bond, officials said.

The accident occurred around , near the intersection of Farnham Lane and Huntleigh Street in Wheaton when Smolinski allegedly lost control of her 1997 Nissan Pathfinder and hit a tree and then a house, according to a press release.

The driver, according to the release, was ejected from the car and a passenger was trapped inside. The passenger has not been charged, police said.

No additional details are available for release, as the case will proceed to prosecution. A booking photograph of suspect Smolinski is not available for release, said Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Tom Meloni.
