Wheaton police were dispatched at 1:09 p.m. to the 1800 block of East College Avenue on a report of a theft from a charity organization that accepts toy and clothing donations, which are distributed to the homeless as needed. According to police, a volunteer at the organization said that at 8 a.m. Oct. 7, she discovered the toy storage room had been gone through , and had entered a padlocked container and removed 30 Matchbox cars and a tire pump. The combined value of the missing items was estimated at $70.

Warrant Arrest, Traffic Charges
Cimel L. Ferreras, 33, of the 700 block of Cove Court, Bartlett, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. at Naperville Road and Tennyson Drive on charges of driving on a revoked license, no insurance, suspended registration, and was arrested on a Cook County warrant for driving on a suspended license. He was transported to the DuPage County Jail.
Bryce L. Akines, 22, of the 400 block of East Liberty Drive, Wheaton, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. at Hawthorne Boulevard and Scott Street on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of no driver’s license. He was released after posting bail.

Emily E. Kempiak, 22, of the 2300 block of Blue Spruce Lane, Aurora, was arrested at 5:14 p.m. at Briarcliffe Boulevard and President Street on a Kendall County warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. She was transported to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were called to a residential structure fire at 3:17 p.m. on the 500 block of North Gary Avenue. The fire was extinguished by the Wheaton Fire Department, which contained the blaze to the front porch area and did not enter the home, which was left habitable.

Police on patrol reported at 7:45 a.m. on the 1100 block of East Butterfield Road discovering graffiti on a telephone network box at the rear of the shopping center at that location.
Criminal Defacement to Vehicle
An individual reported at 5 p.m. that someone spray-painted the passenger side of a panel van while it was parked overnight on Oct. 15 or during the day on Oct. 16 in a lot on the 1000 block of Briarbrook Drive.
Tatiana K. Savenok, 49, of the 1200 block of Briarbrook, was arrested at 8:02 a.m. on the 1200 block of Briarbrook Drive on a DuPage County warrant for contempt of court. She was released after posting bail.

Police were dispatched at 1:26 a.m. to 600 East Harrison Avenue on a request to assist the Wheaton Fire Department, which reported that someone had activated a pull-station fire alarm on the first floor of the building’s east wing.
