Underage Drinking, Battery and Gum Thefts: Police Blotter

Wheaton police reports, Aug. 26-Sept. 9.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

Suspended License

Police charged Ricardo Alvarado, 33, of Carol Stream, with driving on a suspended license. Alvarado was driving a white 2006 Ford Fusion near the intersection of Geneva Road and Main Street around 9 p.m. when police stopped him. He was released from the Wheaton Police Department later that night.

Trespassing

A woman reported trespassing after seeing a man in her unlocked Chevy Suburban parked on Williston Avenue, near Pershing Avenue, around 7 p.m. The man ran away with two others after she yelled at him. Nothing was stolen, police said.

Suspended License

Police charged Alexander Reyes, 23, of Aurora with driving on a suspended license. He was driving a blue 1995 Toyota Camry in the 400 block of Geneva Road around 1 p.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that day.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Stolen: 2 Packs of Gum

Someone stole two packs of gum from an unlocked gray 1991 Toyota Corolla parked at 1340 N. Main between 8 p.m. Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday. The car owner said the interior light was also left on.

Warrant, FTA Violation

Police charged Igor Mamalat, 49, of Winfield, with a warrant for an FTA ordinance violation. He was arrested at the Wheaton Police Department at 5 p.m., booked and released later that day.

Theft

Police issued a local ordinance citation of theft to Luis Arellano-Hernandez, 18, of Warrenville at Wheaton Warrenville South High School at 2:18 p.m. before taking him to the Wheaton Police Department.

Retail Theft

Police charged Kimberly Steward, 20, of the 2100 block of Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, with stealing clothes at 401 County Farm Road. Steward was arrested at the store at 2:30 p.m., booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that day.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Battery Charges

Police charged two men with battery in the 1500 block of Pembroke Lane in Wheaton around 9 p.m. Brett Metzger, 45, of Lockport, and Darryl Murphy, 50, of the 1500 block of Pembroke Lane in Wheaton, were both arrested at Murphy’s home around 10 p.m., booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that night.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Stolen Car Recovered

The souped-up red Honda reported stolen last week was found in Chicago, police reported Friday.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

Underage Drinking

Police charged two Glen Ellyn teens with property damage and underage drinking. Kyle Deger, 19, of the 400 block of Phillips Avenue, and Liam McNeary, 18, of the 600 block of Duane Street, were arrested in the 1100 block of Longborough Drive around 2:15 a.m., booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

MONDAY, AUGUST 27

Recycling Bin Stolen

Someone stole a recycling bin, worth $60, from a resident’s yard in the 300 block of Gary Avenue between 8 p.m. Aug. 26 and noon Aug. 27.
