“Last night Stephanie Pickett lost her life allegedly at the hands of a drunk driver,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a release. “Our hearts go out to her family and friends who are now grieving their loss. As I have said many times in the past, the motoring public has to learn that if you have been drinking, do not risk your life or the lives of others by getting behind the wheel of a car."

It is alleged that at approximately 10:32 p.m. Thursday, Leath and Pickett were traveling southbound on Shaffner Road in Winfield when, while approaching Mack Road, Leath lost control of his vehicle, swerved off the road and crashed into trees on the north side of Mack.

Leath’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 20, in front of Judge Blanche Hill-Fawell.
