Wheaton police reports, March 31- April 1

MONDAY, APRIL 1

Residential Burglary

Someone stole two 32-inch TVs, a video game console and $190 from an apartment on the 1600 block of Briarcliffe Boulevard. The incident was reported at 6:17 p.m. on this day and occurred sometime between noon March 22 and noon March 30.

Unboxed in the Bathroom

A store employee on the 1600 block of North Main reported a cell phone theft at 5:26 p.m. Just a few minutes before, a woman entered the store and asked the employee if she could look at a cell phone. The employee retrieved a $100 phone from behind the secured counter and handed it to the woman, who then went to the washroom. The woman then exited the store without paying for the phone, leaving the box inside the washroom.

School Graffiti, Part 1

An officer at 1:35 p.m. saw graffiti on the front message board glass at Hawthorne School on the 300 block of Wakeman Avenue while conducting an extra patrol.

School Graffiti, Part 2

An officer was dispatched at 11:37 a.m. for a report of graffiti on the south side windows at Lowell School on the 300 block of South President Street. "Upon my arrival, I walked the entire perimeter of the school and found (2) windows painted with a paint pen-like device," said the report for this incident. The windows were on the southwest side of the school.

Underage Drinking

Police charged Cody L. Smith, 18, of the 1300 block of Aurora Way, Wheaton, and Daniel A. Bell, of the 2S100 block of Ivy Lane, Lombard with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Smith and Bell were arrested at 1:05 a.m. at Smith's residence, booked at the Wheaton Police Department and then transported to the DuPage County Jail later that morning.

Felony Criminal Damage

Police charged Nicholas M. Pantaleo, 19, of the 400 block of South Delles Street, Wheaton with criminal damage to government supported property and criminal defacement of property, both felonies. Pantaleo was arrested at 1:28 a.m. at Indiana and Naperville Road. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and then transported to the DuPage County Jail. Pantaleo remains in the jail on $50,000 bail.
