Trial Date Set on ex-Candidate's Domestic Battery Charge
Former city council candidate accused of striking relative with a belt.
A judge on Tuesday set a June 28 trial date for Wheaton businessman and former City Council candidate Derek Bromstead on a charge of domestic battery.
Bromstead, who finished fifth in a five-way race for two council seats, appeared in court with two family members and a new attorney. Ann Marie Lampariello-Perez, who represented Bromstead at previous hearings, withdrew from the case with attorney Tim Martin stepping in on Bromstead's behalf.
Martin asked the judge for a trial date to be set, while indicating that discussions with prosecutors on a possible resolution will occur before then.
