Wheaton Man Accused of Possessing Stolen Vehicle

The 19-year-old was arrested on March 30. Here's what happened.

A 19-year-old Wheaton man remains in the DuPage County Jail as he faces a felony charge of possessing a stolen car.

Matthew R. Grote, of the 1400 block of Stonebridge Trail, is accused of receiving, possessing or attempting to sell a black 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. He is being held on $150,000 bail.

The charge involves an incident that took place between 9 p.m. March 29 and 8:15 a.m. March 30 on the 1400 block of Stonebridge Circle, about a half-mile from Grote's residence.

Grote was arrested at 10:58 a.m. March 30 on West Loop Road east of Naperville Road. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty St., and then transferred to the DuPage County Jail that afternoon.

The next court date for Grote's case is April 11, according to court records.
