Seven Car Burglaries Reported to Police

Police say seven car burglaries occurred in Wheaton this week. In four of the burglaries, thieves smashed windows to break into the cars. No suspect information is available.

Seven car burglaries have occurred during the past week in Wheaton. Six of the burglaries occurred during hours of darkness in the following locations: the 300 block of South Hale, the 900 block of Cordova, the 500 block of Crescent, the 1000 block of Heathrow, the 1600 block of Leytonstone and the 1100 block of Leicester Court. One burglary occurred during the late afternoon hours in the 300 block of Rice Lake Square.

In three of the cases, the vehicles were unlocked, according to a press release Friday. In four cases, a window was smashed to gain entry to the locked vehicles. Electronic equipment, a computer, purses and a backpack were stolen.

Patrol officers are concentrating patrols in the residential areas in order to capture the burglary suspect(s). Detectives continue to investigate the burglaries. No suspect description is available.
