Police Report 7 Break-Ins, Thefts and 2 DUIs New Year's Weekend

Alarm activated at Monroe Middle School, four car break-ins reported on Woodcutter Lane.

The following items are from the Wheaton Police Department: 

DUI

Police arrested a Chicago man for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license and speeding Saturday, Dec. 31. Morris Harris, 25, drove a red 2004 PT Cruiser near the intersection of Erie Street and Roosevelt Road around 1 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Police arrested Lisbeth Webb, 53, of the 2000 block of Hampton Road in Wheaton for marijuana possession and a warrant for failure to appear for a prior offense Friday, Dec. 30. Webb was arrested at her home at 11:20 a.m. and taken to DuPage County Jail.

Someone activated an alarm at Monroe Middle School between 5 and 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. A glass panel on the north side of the school was damaged, police said, but nothing was reported stolen.

Someone broke a window of a business in the 1200 block of Union Street in Wheaton around 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. There were no thefts reported. The cost of damage to the window is $150, police said.

Police responded to a report of four car break-ins in the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Woodcutter Lane between 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 and 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. A GPS unit and an iPod touch were taken from one of the cars, police said.

Someone broke a window to get into an office building in the 600 block of Roosevelt Road Sunday, Jan. 1, according to Wheaton police. The alarm company notified the complainant that the burglary alarm was activated around 3:20 p.m. Sunday. Police processed the scene and found no suspects. Nothing was stolen. The cost of damage is approximately $200, police said.

Someone stole a privately owned street sign from a property in the 1300 block of Jansen Court in Wheaton between 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 and 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The cost of the sign is $340, police said.

Someone broke into a garage in the 500 block of Woodlawn Street and took “various” items from a resident’s unlocked Chrysler Sebring between 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 and 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. 

Someone cut a strand of Christmas lights on display in the 700 block of Farnham Street between 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The lights were worth $12, police said.
