Police Blotter: More than $11,000 in Jewelry, Lawnmower and Red Bull Stolen

The following items were taken from the Wheaton police blotter.

Someone stole more than $11,000 in jewelry from a home in the 600 block of Glendale Tuesday, May 31. According to the police report, the resident left her home unlocked to go out around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. She returned at 2:30 p.m. to see someone had rummaged through her living room and dining room cabinets and stole jewelry from the jewelry box in her bedroom, as well as a pillowcase from her bed. The stolen items included a watch, rings worth more than $8,000 and necklaces worth more than $1,300.

Someone damaged the front hood of a resident’s 2010 Toyota Venza while it was parked at Wheaton Warrenville South High School between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, May 27. The cost of the damage is $2,500, according to the police report.

Two shoppers tried to walk out of Jewel, 2031 Main Street, without paying for the six 12-packs of Red Bull, worth $120, and two gallons of milk in their cart around 8 p.m. Sunday, May 29. According to the police report, the shoppers—described as two white males in their early twenties—put the drinks in their cart and left the store. The store manager followed them out and took the cart back, according to the police report.

A resident in the 1500 block of Wilson Avenue reported a stolen lawnmower Sunday, May 22. According to the police report, the resident left the $560 lawnmower in the parkway of the property around 12:15 p.m. Sunday and went to the backyard with a neighbor. They returned 10 minutes later to find that the lawnmower was gone, police said.

A resident reported criminal damage after someone knocked over two planters near their sidewalk in the 1500 block of Wadsworth between 5 p.m. Thursday, May 26 and 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 27. The cost of damage is $100, police said.
