Police Blotter: Liquor, Bike Gear Thefts and Attempted Register Robbery

Someone in a long coat got away from Ultra Foods with three bottles of liquor, someone else stole nearly $1,000 in shifters and breaks from Spokes and someone else got away with nothing because they couldn't open the cash register.

The following reports were taken from the Wheaton police blotter:

Liquor, $104 

Someone stole two bottles of Belvedere vodka and a bottle of Hennessy Black from Ultra Foods, 601 County Farm Road on Sunday, Apr. 10. The thief wore a long black coat and walked around the store putting things into his cart, including the booze, police said. He continued to walk around, then left the store and got into a red car that picked him up outside of Target, 601 County Farm Road. The total loss was approximately $104, police said.

Bike shifters, brakes, nearly $1,000

Spokes, a bike store at 69 Danada Square East, reported a theft after nearly $1,000 in bike shifters and brakes were taken on Wednesday, Apr. 13. The merchandise was taken from an unlocked cabinet in the store between 5:24 and 6:05 p.m., police said.

Unsuccessful register break-in

An employee at Old Navy, 138 Danada Square West, reported an attempted theft on Friday, Apr. 15. According to the police report, the employee noticed a shopper trying to open a cash register at around 3:15 p.m. When they were unsuccessful, they left and drove away in an "older model" of a white, two-door BMW. The shopper—sex unknown—wore a black jacket and blue jogging pants, and was approximately six feet tall, 185 pounds, according to the police report.
