SUNDAY, JULY 8

Cabbie Tricks Passenger, Drives off with Cell Phone and Sunglasses

A man reported a stolen cell phone and sunglasses after he told police a cab driver tricked him into going into a convenience store to ask directions around 7:30 a.m. According to the police report, the man hailed the cab in the 600 block of Roosevelt Road and gave the driver his phone to use as a navigator. The driver stopped in the store's parking lot and told the man to ask the clerk if they were in Wheaton. The man complied and when he returnd, the cab driver was gone, police said. The phone is worth $500 and the sunglasses, $250.

Graffiti on School Bridge

Police reported someone spray painted graffiti on the Monroe Middle School Bridge around 12:30 a.m.

FRIDAY, JULY 6

Satellite Radio Stolen

A satellite radio receiver was taken from the front porch of a home in the 1000 block of Whitchurch Court between noon and 6 p.m. The resident told police UPS delivered the $150 radio around noon, and when she checked later that day, the box was empty.
