Was His Dog a Pointer, Too?

ELMHURST, April 27—An elderly man became involved in a dispute with the staff at PetCo, 199 S. Route 83, after his dog was groomed and he was given a bill of $51. The man reportedly became verbally abusive and started swearing, then he gave the female clerk a check for $45 and said that was all he was going to pay. He reportedly was pointing his finger at her very closely. She obtained his license plate number, and police attempted to contact him. Police will follow up.

LA GRANGE, April 25—A woman reported that her husband brought home a stray dog Saturday that bit her that day and Sunday. They brought the dog to a Western Springs animal clinic and a bite card was filled out.

Staff Looks Askance at Meatpackers' Pants

DOWNERS GROVE, April 20—An employee at Westbrook Market, 2065 63rd St., watched two men each place a package of meat in his pants and start to leave the store. The two noticed the employee walking toward them and returned to the back of the store. One man was seen placing his package of meat back into the meat display and another left his package in another aisle. The two were stopped by the employee and brought to the front office until police arrived. Keith M. Burgs, 27, and Farrell P. Burgs, 29, both of Woodridge, were charged with retail theft. The meat was valued at $9.46.

WHEATON, April 7—Two people dined and dashed from their bill of $15.99 at IHOP, 167 Danada Square East.  According to the police report, a black female and a white male in their early to mid-20s left without paying and drove away in a black vehicle similar to a Chevy Equinox.

Never Leave Your Phone on Your Talapia

DOWNERS GROVE, March 22—An iPhone valued at $199 was taken from a table at Red Lobster, 3001 Finley Road, between 3:45 and 4:33 p.m. A man and his wife were in their car when they realized his phone had been left inside the restaurant. When he returned to the table, the phone was gone. The manager said the phone had not been turned in. The waitress also reported not seeing the phone. Police said when the man called his phone, it hung up the first time and went to voicemail the second time.

Cool-Down Rinse Cycle Needed

LISLE, March 22—Vladislav Nikolajev, 42, of the 4900 block of Fender Rd., was charged with battery at his residence on Mar. 21 at 5 p.m. Reports indicate that Nikolajev punched an apartment resident in the face after the resident removed his clothes from a communal washing machine.  Nikolajev was released after being processed.
