OMG PD: Pervert Goes Covert, Soapy Vandalism

Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

DOWNERS GROVE

The Covert Pervert

A woman spotted a man masturbating in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Branding Avenue, police said. The incident occurred a few minutes after the woman left work at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 22 on the 1400 block of Opus Place. As she reached the stop sign directly south of 1401 Branding Avenue, she saw a man "covertly standing" on the opposite side of a brick pylon, according to a police report. When she cleared the stop sign, the man stepped into view.

The woman saw the man with his right hand underneath his pant's waistband, rubbing his groin area while making eye contact with her, the report said. Read the full report on this incident.

Soapy Vandalism

A Village of Downers Grove employee said someone poured some sort of soap into the Main Street Depot fountain and it was now filled with soap suds. The incident occurred sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Aug. 26 on the 1000 block of Burlington Avenue, police said. Using $40 worth of "de-sudsing" solution did not work, so the employee had to shut the fountain off so it could be cleaned and the pump checked for damaged. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.
